I'm Ezra Berger
Art was a passion I discovered at an early age. An expression for the subconscious is always at the heart of my work. Art and expression has helped me navigate through childhood trauma when I didn’t know how to unlock those feelings. The canvas often revealed more than language and words and art was a form of self help.
I attended MICA in Baltimore and studied under many great artists including Philip Koch and Raoul Middleman. My art combines many different styles using impressionism, surrealism, absurdism but I have always has considered myself a narrative painter most all, for there is almost always a story or idea being conveyed in the work. There is an element of whimsy and fun to the artwork. With the use of boldcolors, a shallow depth of field and bold colorful images I creates a unique way at looking at the world.
My professional portfolio has spread across 27 years and there are many prestigious commissions and private murals but among the highlights are the public art and street art around Havre de Grace, MD. He has painted city hall, restaurants, breweries, abank, a bridge to a highway, and my "magnum opus" is a 27 mural project that will serve as the future site of the Harmers Town Art Center (harmerstown.org).
Collaborating with a client with the murals is something I love to do for public projects, but inside my artist studio there is a different approach. “Since there is no client to satisfy and share ideas with, I am allowed to play and experiment more. I like to take lots of risks in my private work.
